He hangs out in Goa before crossing Central Asia, recovers in Germany, works on an Israeli kibbutz, then returns to Germany for four seasons in a rural mountain village. Jensen finally returns to his hometown jubilant, but quickly faces new challenges. The author weaves a wonderful tale of seeing life in its natural form from the view point of a common man/woman. He experienced the world from interacting with real people, not as someone who flies first class and stays and dines at five star hotels and restaurants. He did something everyone should try but that most of us do not have the courage to do. He also did a great job writing about it to keep the reader's interest.Product details

This book was recommended to me by a fellow traveler and I am so glad! Jensen does a wonderful job of evoking the atmosphere of the various exotic locales and 1970's. Variously scary, exciting and gut busting funny, he paints a pre-Internet/high tech world that seems so much more relaxed than present day. Some of the characters are unforgettable and straight out of Planet Kerouac. Fantastic debut by a real talent! Can't wait for the follow-up!
I really enjoyed reading about the various adventures and places that Mr. Jensen went. I thoroughly recommend this book. Great!

Jensen is a gifted story teller who takes you for a fantastic trip where he sails blue water, falls in love, lives with rich down under,then crosses asia and the middle- east broke and very sick. All the while,giving us history lessons of his present locale and its present state. JJ drank a lot of cheap coffee with the local people where he questioned and listened. Great Book.
Jim's travels around the world is a great read - very easy and entertaining. I highly recommend it! Can't wait for the movie!
Vividly written! I felt as if I was traveling with the author through mysterious countries, dangerous situations, love and laughter filled encounters. The authors sense of experience and adventure impassions us all to be "Instinctive Travellers"!
